Healthy Travel: Tips for Staying Fit and Slim on Vacation

Last week, I was delighted to hear from a client who returned from her vacation with a lower weight than before she left. We had only one consultation, and she started implementing the recommendations even before she came back from her trip.

I’m so pleased that I get to work with such motivated clients who don’t wait for “next Monday,” the New Year, or some other perfect time to start making changes in their lives.

Here are a few tips for your vacation:

🍽️ Aim for 3-4 meals a day and avoid snacking on desserts and sweet fruits.

💦 Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially if you’re in a warmer climate.

👟 Stay physically active. Bring along a pair of comfortable shoes to explore new places more actively. Walking is a great way to meet your daily physical activity goals without even noticing.

🛌 Get enough sleep. Magnesium, L-Theanine, and in some cases, Melatonin can be very helpful when sleeping in new locations and dealing with time zone changes.

🍳🥑 Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Choose options with protein and healthy fats. This will keep you full and energized for a longer period. Opting for just simple carbohydrates at breakfast will leave you feeling hungry again soon.

🥗 Plan ahead by finding cafes and restaurants with suitable menus. By preparing a list of places with the right food options, you’ll reduce stress about finding somewhere to eat and avoid fast food snacks. When ordering a dish or salad with dressing, ask for the dressing on the side. This allows you to control the amount you use, helping you avoid extra calories and sugar.

Embracing a healthy lifestyle while traveling doesn’t have to be challenging. By planning ahead and making mindful choices, you can enjoy your vacation and maintain your wellness goals. Whether it's staying active, choosing balanced meals, or ensuring adequate hydration and rest, these simple strategies can help you return from your trip feeling great and even lighter. Remember, the key is consistency and making small adjustments that fit seamlessly into your travel routine. Safe travels and stay healthy!

Magnesium is essential for numerous bodily functions, including muscle and nerve health, and can also aid in relaxation and better sleep. Additionally, it helps alleviate constipation, making it a valuable supplement to keep you comfortable during your vacation.

L-Theanine can help improve the quality of your sleep, making it easier to adjust to new time zones and reduce jet lag. By promoting relaxation and calmness, it can also enhance your overall travel experience.
